Education is simply the soul of society as it passes from one generation to another.
Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.
The mission of the Tawakoni Area Public Library is to provide materials and services that meet the educational, recreational, research, technological, and informational needs of all members of our community, thus leading to enrichment of the quality of life in our area.
A group of thirteen people had a shared dream. They knew that their small lake community lacked one very important institution - A LIBRARY. After a "barn raising" a new library consisting of 600sq ft came into being. It was the smallest library in Texas.
In the mid 90's the library was moved to a new location: a converted doctor's office. On April 11, 2006 16,000 volumes were moved into a new 3,600 sq ft bldg.
